In this podcast, Smart Air founder University of Chicago professor Thomas Talhelm shares the story of how Smart Air sparked a revolution in the air purifier industry. The revolution started when Thomas was in China for his Ph.D. thesis and realized it cost $1000 to buy an air purifier. Instead of buying one, he decided to make his own, attaching a HEPA filter to a fan for almost nothing. This simple filter was just as effective as the $1000 purifier. At that moment, Thomas realized air purifier companies were ripping people off.
